Did you mean Anne Roche (your Nan) was born in 1881 & died in 1981 (100 years), or she was born in 1892 & died in 1992 (100 years). Just double-checking..... but you're the one with the papers in front of you! ;) Based on what you've sent in this post & the one before it, plus what I'm assuming about my great-grandmother Nora's first marriage (Sullivan before Doody), I would guess that Nora Roche could be of the same generation (a sibling?) of Maruice Roche. However, I haven't looked up where Tullig, Co. Clare is... If your Nan was born closer to the end of the century (1892), then she would've been only 8 years older than my grandfather, who was in Nora's "second" set of children. Could be they were cousins?! Isn't this the FUN part of genealogy?? My grandfather's name was Patrick... he had one sister Elizabeth (older) and at least one half-sister Kathleen Sullivan (older). I will try the other sources you recommended. I will probably also get a LOT of family information while I am there. What I have to-date is from my grandfather, who died in 1965 and lived most of his life in the States... perhaps not wanting to keep track of details about his grandparents, etc. I do know he went back to Ireland twice, in 1930 and 1958(?). And there is pictorial evidence some of his cousins came to the US... 1950's or 60's. Lots to track down! Also: We will be driving through Warwickshire our first day there! In fact, the plan is to stop in Lea Marston... the Blackgreaves farm is "where the family's topographical surname first emerged following Norman colonization"..... one of my gg-grandmothers was a Blagrave (a current variation on the surname). Luckily, it's along our route that day, so we will try to find it. (I have been getting pretty familiar with Google Maps!!) Then we "zig" over to Brymbo in Wales (gg grandfather born there) and then "zag" over to Ryburn Reservoir in South Yorkshire (not sure if there is a blood-connection, but it will be fun for our daughter to see her name on the sign at least!), finally "zigging" again to Lancaster for the night. We are actually heading to Scotland for the first several days of our trip... Campbeltown is where most (if not all) Ryburns came from (or through). Probably too much information! Sorry, but we are really getting excited now that our departure draws near!! Thanks so much for the information, and I will keep you posted. (Let me know your email address if you would prefer to continue "off line"... either way is fine with me.) --Paula Notify Administrator about this message?
