Mary Ann and Rinaldo have a James Donovan age 24 (born abt. 1837) with them in the 1861 census in Bastard Twp. Leeds.
According to "The History of Leelanau County" and census records, two other Donovan women also moved to Leelanau County, MI. They continue in census records for Leelanau Township 1880, 1900, 1910, etc. Family legend is that Mary Ann, Jane, and Sarah are sisters.
Jane Donovan married abt. 1865 William McMachen b. Dec 1840 in Canada and they arrived in Leelanau Twp. in 1868.
Sarah Donovan married Charles Joynt b. Mar 1846in Canada, and they had children in Canada:Adelbert b. Feb 1868 CAN, Herbert, Mary, Charles L., Sarah, and Harriet A. b. 1879 CAN. They are in Michigan after 1880 but probably were in CAN for the 1880 census.
