There was a Dr. Donovan who worked with famine victims in either Donegal or Cork Ireland, 1846-47. He did several autopsys and inquests on starvation victims and also saved several from death. On the history links to Ireland I saw several articles from The cork examiner and others that he was in protesting the treatment of the irish by england. Can not get the exact website, sorry.
