I am looking for information on John Donovan, born c1885(son of James Donovan, a dock labourer).
John married Elizabeth Sullivan in 1907 at St Mary's and St Michael's Roman Catholic Church, St George in the East, London. They had one son, William John Donovan (my granddad) born 4th April 1907 at 150 Pennington Street.
In 1918 they were living at 12 Old Gravel Lane (now Wapping Lane), when their daughter Louisa Catherine Donovan was born on 26 November 1918. She was baptised at St Mary's and St Michale's RC church in December 1918 but died in 1919.
The family were still living at 12 Old Gravel Lane in 1937 when my grandfather (William John Donovan) married Constance Gladys Rook (named on the certificate as Mary Constance Rook, she was underage and it looks like the marriage may not have been approved off hence the false name)
If anyone else is researching Donovans with connections to 12 Old Gravel Lane, or any part of Old Gravel Lane, I would be very interested to hear.
