ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS -- Ruth F. Donovan, 87, of Rockford died at 7:42 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born Dec. 18, 1913, in Ashland, Wis., daughter of John A. and Alma Karlsson Johnson. Married William D. Donovan in Ashland on Sept. 26, 1936. Employed as a registered nurse at Ashland General Hospital. Also worked at election polls for many years and served as a Scout den mother. Member of Broadway Covenant Church, the Harriet-Marilyn Circle, Women Ministries and a Sunday school teacher for 25 years. Graduated from Ashland High School. Survivors include husband, William; daughter, Marjory (Ken) Philp of Arlington, Texas; son, William R. (Rita) Donovan of Rockford; grandchildren, Hope and Kelly Donovan and Christopher Donovan Philp; brothers, Stanley E. Johnson of Grand Junction, Colo., and Melvin (Lorraine) Johnson of Ashland; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins in Sweden. Predeceased by parent;s sister, Linnea A. Jablonickey; and brother, Robert H. Johnson. Services at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, in Broadway Covenant Church, with the Rev. Sally A. Gill officiating. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ashland. Visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Memorials to Broadway Covenant Church or American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Fred C.
