Hi, I have been researching my Donovan's for a little while now and it has been very hard! My grandmother was a Donovan born in Hartford, CT in 1926 (her name - Lorraine Louise (Barbara) Donovan). She had an older brother named Gerald (aka Jerry) Donovan b. 1925 also in Hartford, CT (still living). I do not know yet where their parents were from or where they were born, but I do know they lived most of their lives (if not born) in Hartford, CT. Their names were Gerald Joseph Donovan and Alice Gertrude Gleason. The family history goes that Alice was from a Protestant family and Gerald from a Catholic family. They were married for 1 year in secrecy until Alice became pregnant.

I do know this family was well represented in the Cheney Mills Factory in Hartford, CT and that Alice painted silk in the silk mills until she was married. Gerald held several jobs (time of the Great Depression), some being Dean at a Boys School and a Volunteer Fireman.

I hope to pick away at this some more, find out where Gerald Joseph was born and when (died in 1957). Maybe we might find a connection?

Thanks,
Tammy
