My great-grandfather, Patrick Thomas Donnolly married Sarah Woods in Clontibret Parish, County Monaghan. Their son, (my grandfather), Thomas Patrick was born in Glasgow, Scotland on July 5, 1897 or 1898, while they were visiting relatives. The family came to the United States and settled in NYC ( mother and son, for certain, but no mention has ever been made of Patrick). Thomas married my grandmother Catherine nee McCahill and had two children, Catherine and Patrick, my father. Unfortunately, my grandparents seperated, and my grandfather died in the 1940's, so little or information could be gotten about other relatives. I do know that my great-grandmother, Sarah lived in New York until she died in 1964. My grandfather lived with her after he and my grandmother seperated, along with an Aunt Kate and Uncle Ned, who I assume were Sarah's brother and sister. My father and my aunt visited them from time to time, but because of bad feelings between them they never really got to know them. I truly wish we had at least gotten a chance to know them, but since my grandmother died in 1968, any source of information has been lost.
I don't know if there is any connection between us, but since you are from Monaghan I thought I would give it a shot.
Sincerely,
Rosemary Donnolly
