  of 2192

Charles Donnelly, older brother of my grandfather John, was born in Pittston, PA, October 20, 1873. During the Spanish-American War he enlisted and was a Private in Company H, Ninth Infantry Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was honorably discharged on October 29, 1898. He was married to Mary Joyce and they are believed to have had three children, all born in Pittston, PA: William, born October 11, 1901; Margaret, born September 27, 1902; and Mary, born October 14, 1905.

Charles Donnelly was a railroad employee and very active in the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, serving 15 years as Chairman of the Lehigh Division of the Brotherhood. He died May 16, 1928, while attending the national convention of the Brotherhood in Cleveland, OH. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, William Street, Pittston. It is believed he is interred in St. John’s Cemetery on Market Street in that city.

I would like to be contacted by any descendant of Charles Donnelly to discuss and share family information.

Robby
