Dear Paddy:
I've been reading all the posts from years past and came across yours stating you have 17 generations or branches all the way to Australia.
Recently, my sister learned that our name Doonkeen was once Donkin and that the family name came from Northcumberland-on-Tyne. Is this the same Northcumberland region/area?
We had some ancestors back to the last 19th century that explored over to Spain and voyaged on to Mexico where the name that came to America in 1924 was Doonkeen. Two brothers that vanished somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribean came from Northcumberland-on-tyne. Can you shed life or share more of your info with me?
Would appreciate very much.
Alfreda Doonkeen
