Joseph A. DONICA - Shelby Co. Indiana 1800's
Posted by: Thomas Nugent (ID *****4397) Date: May 12, 2002 at 12:26:11

My grandmother was Estella Mae Donica, my gr grandfather was James H. Donica, my gr gr grandfather was James A. Donica, and he sometimes spelled it Dunica. I cannot trace my Donica lineage back any further than him. I know for a fact he married Lucy Ann Rutherford in Shelby County, Indiana on July 11, 1849, and died in Shelby County, Indiana on July 4, 1878. He had 8 sons and 2 daughters. I have been told, but cannot prove, that he was born apporximately 1825 in Hawkins County, Virginia, possibly under the name Dunikin. My biggest problem is that I don't think there is or ever was a Hawkins County, Virginia. Any help would be sincerey appreciated. Thanks. Tom Nugent.
