CHARLES NELSON DONALDSON was born in Watertown, New York in l844.His early life was spent in Canada with friends, his parents having died when he was young.He enlisted in the tenth New York artillery in l862 and served until the end of the war.He was joined in marriage to CATHERINE CLEWELL in l875 and to this union were born ten children, three having died in infancy, and one, ROBERT, died in l899, six surviving.
The children surviving are MRS. LYDA JONES, of Tuskeego, WILLIS DONALDSON, of Decatur, MRS. MARGARET CAMPBELL, of Tabor, MRS. PHOEBE WEAHLAND, Avoca and MRS. LOREN STANLEY, of Decatur and CLIFFORD DONALDSON, of Leroy, Ill.Besides these six children, twelve grandchildren and a host of friends survive to mourn his departure.
The funeral was conducted by Abner H. Johnson at Elk Chapel.
