Here is the information I can find on Charles Donald. My interest lies in the Donald side of the family, so if anyone can find out any more, please let me know!
In 1841, Charles was working as an Agricultural Labourer for James McKnight in Nether Cullie, Monymusk.
Charles Donald was christened in Monymusk on 16 April 1823, as the second of three sons. The others were John (08 Nov 1820) and James (29 Jul 1825).
Their parents, John Donald and Isobel Menzies were married in Monymusk on 21 Sep 1806. Both were born in Monymusk.
Both John and Isobel are listed in the 1841 and 1851 censuses, living in Upper Cullie (Coullie). Their son John is with them in 1841, but not in 1851. They also have a niece, Margaret Smith, present in both 1841 and 1851, and a nephew, John MacGregor, in 1851. Both born in Monymusk.
John Donald is listed as a (Chelsea) Pensioner in both 1841 and 1851. His birth is uncertain - there are three John Donalds born in Monymusk between 1777 and 1780, the other two went on to marry Helen Marnock (1796) and Dorothea Leslie (1811).
[I would like to know who John's parents are. This information may be available from the original marriage certificates for these three couples. You can view these at ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk .]
Isobel Menzies was christened 29 May 1785 in Monymusk, daughter of Nathanial Menzies and Margaret Masson. The fourth of five children. The others are:
Jean, christened 05 OCT 1776 Monymusk
Charles, christened 17 SEP 1786 Monymusk
Alexander, christened 10 APR 1781 Monymusk
Robert, christened 16 NOV 1782 Monymusk
Nathanial and Margaret married in Monymusk on 04 June 1780.
Nathanial is the son of Nathanial (Sr.) Menzies and Jean Gordon, and was christened 08 JUN 1759 in Premnay. His brother, Peter, was christened there on 06 APR 1757.
Nathanial (Sr.) Menzies and Jean Gordon married on 18 MAR 1756 in Premnay.
