I've been trying to find out more of this family as well! I have a hunch that James Donahue is related to my Donahue's from Oswego, NY. My great great great grandfather was Florence Donahue from kerry, Ireland born 1834. He immigrated to NY and lived out his life in Oswego. I'm a descendant of his son John Charles Donahue.
I found that Nicholas James Donahue, James' son, married a Ruth Jane Schauffler. Here's the article:
Oswego Daily Palladium, Monday, June 11, 1923
Donahue - Schauffler.
At 5:20 o'clock this afternoon at St John's church occurred the marriage of Miss Ruth Jane Schauffler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schauffler, West Fifth street, to Nicholas James Donahue, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Donahue, 262 West Eighth street. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. John F. McLoghlin.
... Following the wedding ceremony the couple left for a trip in Chicago, which will terminate at their home in Watertown, where the groom is employed.
The bride is a well known young lady with a host of friends. For the past few years she has been employed as stenographer at the Ames plant. The groom is employed as a plumber at Watertown. Numerous friends extend hearty congratulations.
Contact me if you have any information on this James Donahue I think there's a link to my Donahue's. I would be really interested to track down a living male Donahue descendant of Nicholas Donahue and have a YDNA test done. I've had my YDNA tested for my Donahue side - would be great to compare! I'm a direct Donahue male descendant - my father's last name was changed when he was adopted from Donahue to Bertolero.
- Nicolas Bertolero
