Phillip Ridore was a land owner and businessman in the mid to late 1700's in Santo Domingo. He had children by a lst wife, then married a younger widow, Lady Marie Laugier-Raison, who shared the God-parent title to a Charles, the son of a Mulatto "of the mountain" of Jacmel. They may have had other children together, tho the 3 I know and the one I descend from, issue from the union of Lady Marie Laugier, dtr of Luis Laugier and the Marquess Louis Marie Modeste Raison de la Geneste. French plantation owners and Huguenot exiles. I have seen a few Ridores on the web. In Florida and in NY. I have also seen the name Riodoro, of Cuba. Lady Marie Laugier-Raison-Ridore and her youngest dtr had to flee to Cuba during the slave revolts, early 1800's so I'm not sure if some of the Ridore went there or were already there, perhaps. I think many were separated during the slave revolts and I've seen similar names, as well as Sebilleau, etc...a brother in law's name. Anyone feeling these names are familiar, please contact me at artogo4u@yahoo.com
The older woman, (my direct kin)ended up in NOLA, in St.Charles(?), using her maiden name, from what info I've heard, but not yet seen..perhaps Laugier or Raison or some variation of either/all... as well as the younger dtr, who married a duChaussenel. Their dtr, Julia, married a Dubieneau(d) in NOLA (There's a Hotel still there, by that name.) I think that can be spelled like Devano, in some cases, now...Only out here in Oregon, have I heard that refer to a small couch, or a Devan..?
Thanks.
