Looking for Alexander Family in Dominican Republic. My great-great-grandfather Samuel James Alexander Jr., supposedly came from Santo Domingo. The United States 1880 Census of New Orleans, LA shows his birth place as being Lorraine, France. However, we were told he came from Santo Domingo. It would appear some time between 1848 (his birth) and 1879 (his marriage date in the United States) he ended up in Santo Domingo. We were told he had to leave because of political reasons. Not sure if he was still a child or grown. Any information would be appreciated.
