Cruz family migration from Spain

I'm looking for the origin of the Cruz family. I would like to know or find information that can help me trace the origins of this family back to its root in Spain.
Currently with the information I can get from my living relatives, I can only go back as far as 5 generations, which is just after some family members moved from Spain to The Dominican Republic.
Any leads will be great.
