Hi Jean Marie,
I also posted other notes that appear at the top of the message list. Another observation that I have made is that Christian has absulutely no reference to his family while others (including the Scottish prisoners) have records that indicate siblings, an Aunt, Uncle, parent - someone. But nothing for Christian - weird) Also the very first spelling of his name is Cristean Dolac and later Dolack (in Scotland William Wallace, of fame,is pronounced Wallack!)I still need to do some linguistic research to see if my theory holds. The first Scottish prisoners (about 250 of them) were sent to Hammersmith in Saugus Massachusetts - an iron works workshop - and from there up to Dover and Exeter and Southern Maine - to the saw mills - I have found several of the saw mill people in Dover/Exeter that trace back to Hammersmith but can't find an entry for Christian - to place him with the group at Hammersmith. Hammersmith is still in existence - really interesting - my sister and I toured it this past summer. My sister has found the name Dolliffe in England from the late 1500's and 1600's. I'll try to send more info later.
