This Albert George Dollery married Gladys Priscilla White on December 26th 1935. He was 26 years old at the time, Gladys just 24.
They both lived at Southampton Road, Eastleigh at the time of their marriage, and Albert was a stoker in the Royal Navy. He lists his father as Albert George Dollery - Labourer.
Gladys was my grandmother. She never knew that Alberts details were engraved on the Portsmouth War Mmorial, and so never visited there. She spent many years trying to figure out what really happened to Albert ( I don't think she ever truly believed for a long time afterwards that he had really died).... and my research goes from there really. I have all the original documents from the King when Albert lost his life, and I wondered if any of his family now would be interested in knowing what was said about the man, and maybe get some copies of the telegram, etc. snt out to them (via e-mail probably).
