Hi Janice,
In regards to Alston J. Dollarhide, his name is actually John Alston Dollarhide, married Mary Bedwell.
He was the son of my 2nd ggrandparents, Absalom and Charlotte (Lottie)Brown Dollarhide. John was a brother to my ggrandfather, Albert H. Dollarhide. John served in the Mexican War and never returned, evidently killed. Absalom and his son-in-law, Frederick Weaver became guardians of John's 2 daughters, Malsy Jane and Charlotte. The guardianship took place in Louisa county, Iowa and the date shown on the record is October 17, 1848. John was born before 1825 in Indiana.
