Hi Donald,
I too have heard of the Indian ancestry, however, a research report my father had done in the 1980's suggests that since some Dollarhide's were born in Indiana, that people misunderstood and thought they were saying indian.
I have worked on the Indian ancestry angle and have not been able to find any sources to verify this as being true.
It appears from information I have found on-line that the Dollarhide's origin is Scotland and/or Ireland.
