Hi, Geri. Here I am again with another question, but not a silly one.
I spent some time today in the genealogy room of our local library.I was just nosing around to see what they had that pertains to Monroe and Northampton Counties and early German settlers.
I was looking at a Gazetteer from the 1800's to find out more about Jackson and Hamilton townships.I found Hamilton, but the Jackson Townships listed weren't for Monroe or Northampton counties.Where the heck is/was Jackson Township?
Here's the entry for Hamilton Township:
Hamilton, t-ship, Northampton co. bounded N. by Pokono, S. by Lower Mt. Bethel and Plainfield, E. by Stroud, and W. by Chestnut hill and Ross t-ships.Greatest length 6 1/4, width 6 1/4 miles; surface, partly hilly, or rather mountainous, and partly level; soil, gravel.Pop. in 1830, 1428; taxables 275.It is drained by McMichaels, Pokono and Cherry creeks - which flow easterly through it to the Delaware.
Best wishes,
Lynda
