My cousin, David Miller, has an Ancestry.com account.I go in through him.I wouldn't subscribe myself because I think it's too expensive and most of the documents are available for free in good libraries or online.I'm not surprised at all that they are using your research.Seems like all the subscriber or pay-as-you-go genealogy sites are doing that.
We had a delivery of oil recently that put the fear of God in me.February is looking gruesome as far as heating costs, so I'm doing what I can to plug up any air leaks. We bought a big old drafty house here in Bloomsburg last year with lots of double hung windows.Energy conservation wasn't a part of the design, to say the least.
We moved from the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, by the way, which you mention in your post.
Isaac Norris, also mentioned, was the son of the man who brought the Liberty Bell to us.I have one of his books in my library.
Guinned Twp. is what is known as Gwynned Twp. today.
ANOTHER QUESTION:
You say that Frederick Miller's burial ground is near the county home.Is that their home in the county or some sort of public institution like an orphanage?
Are you living in the area? Are the Fredrick Millers properties still existing?
How do we find out the history of the Millers in that area?I'd like to get to the generations prior to the Fredericks to get a sense of how long they have been here and where they came from.I'm getting the sense that they are old Monroe/Northampton county families and that they probably populated the area during the German immigration.I'm trying to tie them into the U.S. history of that period.
From what you've posted, I'm suspecting that the Doll's migrated from the Philadelphia area.Am I wrong about this?Did several families move together from the Philadelphia area to Monroe/Northampton county?
I'm coming into all of this with little knowledge of the local history.I'm trying to catch up to you so I don't miss the significance of the wealth of information you're posting.I'm a quick study and have excellent research skills, so if you point me in the right direction, I'll be lower maintenance!
Thanks for everything!
Lynda
