That info on WFT is my contribution. I have lately received a copy of an extract of the 1870 census, Mason County Ill, dated 9 Aug, 1870, Page 9, Dwelling #58, Family #58, listing Henry Edward's birthplace as Prussia. Interesting to see that his father, named Casper, was also here then, age given as 68 in 1870. Casper's birthplace is also listed as Prussia. He is listed as living with Henry Edward at the time of the census. I received this from another Dolcater who is searching census records. It adds one more level. It also would seem to discount any adoption theory. There is a William Dolcater family with a 1 year old son John listed on Page 8, Dwelling #56, Family #56, of the same census. William's birthplace is also listed as Prussia.
