David DOLBOW, Macoupin C, IL 1840

I think I've made my connection
(somebody bring me down gently if it ain't so!).

Illinois 1840 census index:

DELBOW, David, Macoupin Co, p.42 (right next to Erick "DELBOW")
RITCHIE, William, Macoupin Co, p. 43

These two entries seem to match my quandry, a marriage with no parents cited for:

DOLBOW, Dennis (groom) and RITCHIE, Rebecca (bride)
Macoupin Co, Illinois, 1/12/1843; Vol. 2, Lic # 747

So, the current question is: WHO WAS DAVID DALBOW? Is he connected to the rest of the family? Could HE be the father of my Dennis?

Since William RITCHIE and David DOLBOW are in the same county in 1840, is this a reasonable assumption? The only others of these names are known to NOT be parents of Dennis and Rebecca.

That being the case, how can I prove a connection? (new to 'proofs' but not new to genealogy).

Thanks for ANY help/suggestions, etc.

==Marjorie Wilser
