I am researching my family tree on the surname Brack. Catherine Doig was married to Christopher Brack we think around 1846. We can find no trace of a mariage in Scotland,England or Ireland. Their eldest son was born in Manchester 1848 named Christopher, followed by a daughter called Catherine, daughter Isabella, son Andrew(who could have had a still born twin sibling), daughter Clara, daughter sarah, daughter Agnes, daughter Eliza Maud and son William Henry(my Grandfather) On the 1871 census for Lancashire, Christopher and the younger children are listed and Christopher is listed as married but there is no sign of his wife! The only Catherine Brack on the 1881 census is listed in a prison in surrey, she is listed as a widow, which would be correct, as Christopher died in 1874. Christopher is down on the 1871 census as born in Scotland we have no idea where after many searchers. Catherine is down on the 1881 census as born in Scotland, again we have no idea where. There could be a Irish connection with a John Doig living in Dublin ( worked for the East India Company, when he died in Dublin, he left his money to a William Doig 1871. Any help anyone can give would be appriciated. Catherine died 1888 Salford Manchester. Sue Smith (mrs) Notify Administrator about this message?
