Bingo! We have always believed that James Doig was the son of James Doig and Jean Black. Thus your information is extremely helpful. James Doig was a French Polisher who died in Edinburgh in about 1887. He married Elizabeth Preston on 13th October, 1876. We know that they had three children. William born in about 1877 who married Christina ?. They had ? four children, John, Mary, Ina, ? Willie. James born in about 1879 who lived in Glasgow. He married and had twin daughters. The youngest child was John who was born on 24th July, 1881 and married Christina Will on 26th June, 1908. John Doig was a wood machinist. He died on the 11th January, 1939. They had five children, Helen Murray b 1.10.08, Mary Black b 7.6.10, Christina b 6.12.12, Jessie Porteous Will b. 2.10.1913, and James b 16.5.16.. My husband, James Mitchell is the eldest son of Jessie Porteous Will. He has one older sister, a younger sister and two brothers. James was born on 4.November, 1938. We married on 28th September, 1974 and have one daughter, Samantha Joan Cole nee Mitchell born 29th November, 1975. She married on the 11th May, 1996. She has two little girls, Lucie Elizabeth Cole born 26th February, 1998 and Courtney Alice Cole born 30th May, 1999. I can fill you in on the rest of the family if you wish.
