Most Irish males immigrated between the ages of 16 and 24. Very few immigrated at either an earlier, or later age. This puts John's est DOB at 1843 +/- 4 yrs.

Also, Irish males normally married at abt 23 yrs of age +/- 2 yrs.

These two approximations and the father's forename should help you refine your search range in the database.
