I wonder if you could be talking about Dudley Watson Doe, b. 23 Aug. 1901 in Bar Harbor, ME.I don't know of any Gearold Noel Doe, although that might possibly be Dudley's son Jerry.I have only that name and no other information whatever about Jerry except that he was the son of Dudley and Florence (Smith) Doe.Dudley Watson Doe was born into a musical family. His mother, Amy B. (Rice) Doe was the daughter of famed oratorio singer Henry Clay Rice and was an organist, concert director and music teacher herself.Dudley's father was John Watson Doe.He was a druggist and at one time postmaster of Palm Beach, FL, where the family was living probably by the mid-30's.Dudley's sister, Doris Doe, was a solo contralto with the Metropolitan Opera Co. for 17 years from about 1925 to about 1942.I don't have a lot of information about Dudley himself, but I do know that he was a musician and concert orchestra director and was living in West Palm Beach, FL in 1944.He died 25 Apr. 1944, Peterborough, NH, of rheumatic heart disease and is bur. Evergreen Cem., W. Palm Beach. His wife was given as Florence B. Smith on the death cert.I don't know what happened to her or the son after Dudley's death.I had assumed that Dudley was in NH visiting his mother and sister, but perhaps the visit had something to do with a musical tour instead.Dudley's sister Doris had bought property in Bennington, NH and his mother Amy was living there in the 1940's.If you think that this is the man you are interested in I would love to hear from you.Maybe together we can work out some more information.
