Hello there Mr Rhodes, and all others...respond. Oral histories are wonderful however with out the written proof we are all considered non-exisitant according to the Jamestowne Society. Interesting isn't it, an entire family of thousands are dismissed by the leading historical group of decendants of Jamestown because we do not have written documentation. I would like nothing better than to disprove their foolish errors, however I am afraid that too much time and documentation has passed.
I am interested in your book and would like to obtain a copy for further research and genelogical development. Please contact me asap and I will respond.
This is my theory.... John was left with one of the groups of Natives, perhaps as far north as the Potomac River, to learn the language and habits of them. He as they say,
" Went Native" and became one of the tribe, adopted and married. I do not believe that the group were Iroquois, but Algonquin, and that Eagle Plume is actually White Feather, which is more in keeping with my Oral history that was passed down our Dodson line. He did not register or get permission to marry and therefore there is no written documentation with the Engish Government or the Virginia company. Keep in touch you all Jan Hill
