Thanks for getting back on the Dodson-Arkansas possibility. As to the Estes from Tennessee, it is possible there is an indirect connection. Almost all of the Estes clan (starting in Virginia in the late 1600's with Abraham Estes) moved into North Carolina. Mostly in Wake County (Raleigh area) but our branch settled in western NC in Blue Ridge Parkway area (Burke County). My husband's clan moved on to Wisconsin for about 10 years before heading out for Northern California by Wagon train in the 1870's. My guess would be that the Estes you mention could be a cousin coming, originally, from the Burke County area. I know that a couple were in the Tennessee during the Civil War.
