We now have a Dodd/Dodds DNA and a Dodson project underway with FamilyTreeDNA.com to help us sort out some of the uncertainties of our archival research and to try to confirm some of those tales of our grandparents and the kinships we suspect. We invite any of you Doddridge researchers who see variant spellings of your name to join in our study. Surname DNA studies test a portion of the DNA passed through the male line from father to son. So you need a male, son of a Dodd varinat surnamed father, preferably from an older generation, to agree to a simple swab of the inner cheek. The test kit comes through the regular postal service, so delivery and return is no problem, even for those of you in distant places. The cost is about that of a couple of nights' stay in a motel or a couple of tanks of gas for the SUV! Pull out that address book and find that uncle or male cousin. Make sure your known line is in the study database, so you can discover new connections, new places to research. All national origins, all ethnicities with a Dodd variant surname are welcome to participate in the study. With the help of this DNA tool, we hope to be able to establish a genetic profile for each of the many Dodd/Dodds lines who gave us our character! You can find information about DNA, the project, and an application to join at FamilyTreeDNA.com surname search DODDRIDGE or through the project webpage: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/DoddDoddsSurnameDNAProject/ Anne Crocker Dodd/Dodds DNA Project Group Administrator Notify Administrator about this message?
