Thanks Peggy, your source is absolutely correct.
I've just checked in the 1909 book I referred to, which has a marvellous (and rather hideous) portrait of Sir John Dodderidge as its front piece. It specifies that both he (1555-1628) and Pentecoste were sons of Richard Dodderidge (of South Moulton and Barnstable). John was the eldest son and Pentecost the third son, according to this book. It tells us that Pentecost was involved in trading cloth with Spain. He was apparently mayor of the town of Barnstaple in Devon in 1611, 1627 and 1637, and died in 1643, a couple of years after the English Civil War started.
