Thanks so much for the very helpful information.

Travis Dodd's name appeared only twice in the militia records on file in the Library of Virginia--in 1819 and 1821. Both times he was listed as being in Capt. Thomas Hill's company and he failed to appear for the required monthly musters.

In 1845 Humphrey Dodd was named a lieutenant in place of William S. Briggs, promoted. Humphrey resigned and was replaced as lieutenant by James F. Robinson. Those are the only references to Dodds that I found in the militia records.

The militia records also contain the name of Daniel R. Huffman who failed to appear for muster in 1825.

The following Humphreys were listed:
Anderson 1846, 47
Charles 1802-04
Daniel 1803
John 1825
Rawley 1827
Samuel 1837, 41, 46, 47
