I came across your page while trying to gather information on my daughters great-grandfather and his parents. His name was "Clifford Lee Dockrey, Sr.". My daughters and I know very little about their father's family beyond his grandfather. I've heard speculation that there was a family rift and Clifford (Sr.) dis-owned his family and possibly even changed the spelling of his sur name (Dockery to Dockrey) to cement his choice. I've read Barbars posts from several years ago and feel I must correct her mistakes. The Clifford Lee Dockery she speaks of in her post dating back to June of 2001 IS in fact my daughter's Great-grandfather. He and his wife lived most of their adult life in Bell County Texas. However his name is not spelled "ery" rather it's "rey". Their Great-Grandmother's maiden name is Bess (Elizabeth I think) Gower. MaMaw and PaPaw as we knew them had 2 children. Betty Joyce and Clifford Lee Dockrey, Jr. It's unfortunate but true that Betty Joyce passed away as a little girl from a fireworks accident. Her brother has survived her death as well as both his parents. Also, Clifford, Sr. had a sister named Geraldine (not sur of spelling). And though I can't remember exactly, I think she lived in east Texas if not west Louisiana. I'm VERY interested in your research as it might provide the lost family history that PaPaw felt very strong about not sharing. Gramps (Clifford, Jr.) may know the story, but unfortunatley he's as forthcoming with the information as PaPaw (Clifford Lee Dockrey, Sr.) was. Out of respect, I didn't activley start searching for answers until several years after MaMaw and PaPaw passed away. Does any of this help? And if anything I've mentioned sounds familiar and you might have the answers we would be extremely greatful! Notify Administrator about this message?
