Thanks for the contact. Your ancestor, Joseph Dobson Jr. wrote in his 1832 pension application that he had a family bible in which his birthday was inscribed. The deposition states, "his age was recorded in a large Family Bible by his Father which Bible the said Joseph now has and which states that he the said Joseph “was born on the 4th day of June 1756”. Do you know what happened to the bible? We haven't been able to confirm John Dobson Sr.'s birthdate or the date of his marriage to Catherine Killian. There are several of John Dobson Sr.'s descendants who have the given name 'Killian'. I suspect yours comes from the same source. Regards... Ed Killian Notify Administrator about this message?
