Bear in mind that the context I was reporting on was the identity of "Brina", aka "Catron", or Catherine Killian, and was not presenting any results of new research on the details of the Dobson Family, per se.
It is obvious that one man's "About" is not another's. I personally suspect that John Dobson was probably born ca. 1740, but not having researched the issue, I simply reported the consensus as issued by the 'published' Dobson/Guinn researchers; that seemed to be the diplomatic thing to do. His precise birthdate is of little consequence to the issue I was trying to illustrate.
The dates I reported on the Dobsons were properly cited as coming FROM Dobson/Guinn Researchers. I think you should take up these issues with them. I will be glad to reference whatever you, and they, come up with.
