S.C. Good stuff. As far as I know there are 3 families of Dobson's in NC in the 1700s. Surry County Dobson's, Iredell County Dobson's and Burke County Dobson's. As far as we know, there are no direct links between the families, but I am sure someone is related somehow? I am a direct descendant of Captain John Dobson through the Randolph County, Alabama Dobson's. I always have Captain John Dobson being born "Between 1740 and 1750" due to not having any official evidence of birth date. I have always thought John to be the oldest since family history passed down referring to him as "like his father in demeanor upstanding community member." His brother Captain Joseph Dobson was a little bit of a fire brand. I personally do not have in my research a husband for Ann Dobson, daughter of Dr. Joseph Dobson. I really don't have much information on her at all. Now Anna Maria Dobson married Thomas Scott who was KIA during the Revolution. There are Benjamin's in my family line from the Parks side, but none before Nancy Anna Parks married John Dobson Jr. to my knowledge. I have heard that there could have been a possibility that Captain John Dobson had a son named Benjamin, but that is just speculation. Keep up the good work, maybe we can find out more information on all the North Carolina Dobson's. Notify Administrator about this message?
