S. C. Connor...
According to Dobson/Guinn researchers, John Dobson's siblings are:
Ann Dobson, born Abt. 1752; married Alexander Hall.
Anna Maria Dobson, born Abt. 1754; married Thomas Scott.
Joseph Dobson, Jr. born June 04, 1756 in England; married Mary Mackey.
Frances Dobson, born Abt. 1758; married Uriah "Ute" Sherrill.
William Dobson, born Abt. 1760.

John Dobson Sr.'s wife, Catherine Killian is believed to have been born after her brother, George Killian, who was born about 1740 based upon census infomation. That suggests Catherine was born ca. 1742-1745. I have suspected that John Dobson Sr. was born about 1740 based upon that and his general activities and holdings in Burke Co., NC. The record you cite supports that, as well.

But saying that he was born ABOUT 1750 doesn't deny that he was born in 1740, or in 1760 for that matter. Yet, if the ABOUT birth years are correct for his siblings, those birthdates would suggest that John Dobson Sr.'s own birth might have been closer to 1750 than 1740.

If you have more on the Dobsons, and more on John Dobson in particular, I would be very interested to know about it.

Thnaks for the information.
Regards...
Ed Killian
