Family tradition says that my ggfather Casper Sowers was born a Dobson. The story is that when he was young, his father drowned in a flood, and he was taken in by the Sowers family and took their name. According to the story, there was no official adoption. He was born 3/31/1854 near Herndon, Northumberland County, PA and d 1/15/1921 while vacationing in Florida, interred in Shamokin, PA cemetery.
Casper married Lucy Cardell (b 1853, married 12/2/1880, d 1934), and they had Ada, Bertha, May, Blanche, Harriet, Kathryn, Lula, and Helen (my grandmother).
