My mother-in-law, who is originally from England, had a friend gather information for her. He apparently checked various records and this is the information he came up with:
John Dobson, b. 1770 at Malerv (could be Malew). He had 2 sons, Joseph b. 1805 and John b. 1807. Joseph married Martha Caine in 1832 at St. Marks. They had 4 children, all born at Lonan: Joseph b. 1832 - married Ann Jane Hudson in 1858; John b. 1833 - married Ann Clague in 1857 at Braddan; Edward b. 1845 - married Leonora Gelling in 1872; and Robert b. 1848 - married Jane Corkhill in 1873.
John & Ann had 7 children: Ann b. 1860; John born 1865 - married Louise Sidwell; Joseph b. 1866; Mary Jane b. 1868; Alice b. 1870; Thomas b. 1874; and Edward b. 1878. All were born in Lonan.
John & Louise had 1 child - Douglas John Dobson b. 3-8-1891 at 45 Strand Street, Douglas, Isle of Man. He married Lily Woodhouse of Dumfries Scotland. They had 3 children - James b. 1915; Douglas John b. 1920 - married Pansy Baldwin in 1945 in Wadhurst, Sussex England; and Gladys b. 1925. Doug & Pansy are my husband's parents.
