My sixth greatgrandfather was Luke Doble, who was born in Devon in 1720, but moved to Ireland where he started a large family, many of whom migrated to Canada about 1825. It looks like he and your ancestor may have been siblings. Do you suppose Rebecca went to Ireland as well?

I'm in touch with many Dobles in Canada, and so far, no one has traced the family back before this Luke. We don't even know his wife's name. But if we are successful, I'll try to let you know what we find out. Maybe it will help you as well.
