How special to hear from you! I did share most of the Dobkins history I had at the time, with your Dad, but since then, the files have grown tremendously. Your great Aunt Carol and I have worked several years on putting the lines together and have only one link yet to find. We are not the only families looking for information on that one Dobkins man and his sister, and so far, all of us are stymied. The two of them lived in Virginia; then Tennessee, and she married a Brickey and her brother, Thomas Dobkins is the one who emigrated on to Missouri and was the great-grandfather of my grandfather.Thomas D. Dobkins was father to Joshua, who was father to Joshua known as John. The second Joshua, known as John, was father of my grandfather, William DeVol Dobkins, whom your Dad doubtless remembers.Grandpa Will was, of course, the father of your great-grandfather Marvin, who was father of your grandfather Ernest and myself. So there is the line.We need to find Thomas D. to know for sure his parentage and his sister, Eleanor, is also a subject of search for the Brickey family tree researchers. We are nearly positive Eleanor and Thomas D. were siblings, but need a family record of who the parents were anda listing of the children, to make the record complete back to the original Dobkins American records. It is more fascinating a search by far than CSI or some of those--since we are searching long-shrouded history. There is so much I could tell you about the rest of the family--it would fill a nice, fat, book. The good, the bad, the ugly, the exemplary, and the downright marvelous--we have had them all.Right now I am writing up material on the gravestones in the original Dobkins cemetery, and have almost completed that.Good luck on your searching. And love from this end of a large family. I worried over your Dad and Uncle Steve during the 911 crisis and was glad to know they were safe.
