Don, I too am trying to connect to NY Dobbs. My GGGrandfather was Alexander H. Dobbs b1834 in NY. Was Volunteer in Civil War from NY Company C30th NYVI. I read the volunteers were from Columbia Co.,Rensselaer Co.,Dutchess Co.,Saratoga Co and Warren Co.. His wife was Mary born 1843, they had 8 children (no Lewis though) Thought maybe this could help, and maybe not. My grandfather cannot remember much because he is the baby of his generation, he did remember a connection to Dobbs Ferry.
