Rosemary,
My 5th ggrandfather was Chesley Dobbs, born 1749, Culpeper Co., VA; married Hannah Scott, 25 Dec 1784, Fauquier Co., VA; died 25 Jan 1834, Claiborne Co., TN. Some researchers of this line believe that Chesley may be a son of Arthur, others do not. (Chesley fought in the Revolutionary War for our country...Arthur had been appointed by the British crown and was apparently loyal to England. In his will "other children" are mentioned besides several who were still in County Antrim, Ireland. He had descendants in this country, it is assumed from his will, and it would be great if someone out there has information on who they were. I would be interested in any info. you have. I have quite a bit of information on Dobbs' in TN. Chesley Dobbs lived in Burke Co., NC for a time, following the Revolution. One of his sons, Joel Dobbs moved to Casey Co. KY about 1820-1823, living there until 1829 when his first wife died. He then moved his family to Putnam Co., Indiana in about 1829, following the death of his first wife in 1828. In about 1837 Joel moved to Polk Co., Missouri. From his two marriages Joel had 16 children. (Some of the KY Dobbs' could be related to him) Karen
