I am seeking any information about my GG-grandmother, her parents and siblings. Narcissa Dobbs, b. 1830, was married to John A. Carlisle on Dec. 31, 1848, in Union Co., Arkansas by Hezikiah Bishop, JP. Their marriage record states that Narcissa and John, 18 and 21 yrs. of age at the time, were residents of Louisiana (Claiborne Parish), where they are listed in the 1850 and 1860 US Census Records.
Census Records indicate Narcissa was born in Mississippi, (but I wouldn't rule out Arkansas, Louisiana, or perhaps Georgia). John A. Carlisle was born about 1827 in Lawrence Co., Mississippi, the son of John B. Carlisle and Elizabeth Saunders. It is believed that John went from Lawrence Co. to Claiborne Parish, Louisiana/Union Co., Arkansas with older brothers, William and James Carlisle, about 1846/1847.
Narcissa's full name may be Narcissa Mary Jane Dobbs. I have seen her name listed in a church record as N.M.J.Carlisle and in the 1880 Census, Grant Parish, Louisiana, she is listed as Mary Carlisle.
John and Narcissa Carlisle had the following girls: Lucinda, b. 1852, Elizabeth Matilda, b.1856, , Louisa E., b.1859, Nancy Ann, b. 1861 and a son, William, b.1869.
Do any of you have a Narcissa Dobbs, born about 1830, in your Dobbs Family genealogy records? Who are her parents and did she have brothers and sisters?
