R./GA1860 by Janie Schexnayder of 2923 In searching Maddox family, I found 5 surname Dobbs related to Maddox family. Earliest is Nathan Dobbs, born in Henry County, VA , enlisted 5/1780 and served 3 months in Captain Roberts' Virginia Company, enlisted again 9 /1780 and served 4 months in Captain Edwards' Virginia Company under Washington's Light Dragoons. Was in battles of Camden, Guilford Courthouse, and was at Yorktown. He was discharged in 1783. On 10/8/1833 he applied in Gwinnett County, Ga for pension for service in Revolution and was granted same.
