Are you still convinced of your John Dobbs information? I have been tracing his Loyalist journey in an effort to figure out if his sons were Hewlett Dobbs/N.B. Loyalist b. c. 1755 and Jarvis Dobbs (b. 1755 d. 1815 lived in Flushing NY). Do you have his reference in Loyalists of the American Revolution by Palmer, the microfilm record of his Loyalist claim for reimbursement for the loss of farm animals and grain, and information about his transport to NS on the vessels Joseph and Eagle, arriving in the Fall of 1783? All are available at the main NYC library at 42nd Street. The late genealogist Grenville Mackenzie probably writes about him as well.
Do any of my names or places strike a bell? Family lore insists that Hewlett and Jarvis were sons of one of the Dobbs Ferry ferrymanders, but I cannot find proof. John Dobbs definitely kept a farm in Haverstraw. I look forward to hearing from you.
