I am searching for information on a fur trader who signed a petition in the early 1830s to have a bilingual priest come to the Goderich/Maitland settlement, Lake Huron, Ontario. 'Lec Dobie identified with those traders who were "French-speaking" and signed with the French, as opposed to signing with those who identified as Irish and Scottish.
Any information would be appreciated.
