William was my gr gr grandfather, My line is as follows: John L. R. Doan(b1957), Leo Richard Doan(b1931-d1996), John Richard(Dick)Doan(b1905-b1977),Albert Ernest Doan(b1873-d1953), William R. Doan(b1849-d1929), James Doan(b1822-d ?). Your grandmother's brother that showed fowl was my gr grandfather Albert Ernest, I have some of his awards, one for best collection Turkeys from the CNE in 1932 and one for Contribution to the 3rd Worlds Poultry Congress in Ottawa 1927. I am interested in any other info that you my have on any of William's decendants. William's parents were James J. Doan and Eliza Catherine Couse. They were married in Yarmouth Dec 13,1848. They had 3 children: William R(b 1849 d1929), Helen Melisa(b1851), Mary C. (b Oct. 12,1854- dFeb. 4,1855). Eliza also died May 25,1855. Eliza and Mary are both buried Mapleton Cemetery South Dorchester Twp. James remarried on Sept 21, 1855 to Margaret Austin In Yarmouth, Twp also. James and Margaret had 4 children: Sarah Ann(b 1856), John Daniel(b 1858), Joseph(b 1859), Mary Jane
(b 1862). James and Margaret moved to Ailsa Craig abt 1863. In 1864/65 they were listed as proprietors of the Farmers Hotel in Ailsa Craig. That is the last record I have of James, Margaret how ever shows up there until 1871 then I have no track of her. Her family is from the Ailsa Craig area but that has been no help. I have the lineage for Eliza Catherine Couse
(Your gr gr grandmother) back to 1735 in Germany if you are interested. As far as William's wife Eliza Ann Harrison, Her parents were Robert & Ellen Harrison and are buried in St Georges Cemetery London Twp. They had 5 children: Eliza Ann(b 1849 d 1921), Charles (b1852 d1932), Mary (b 1857), Sarah(b 1859), James(b 1869). I have a pretty good record on Williams family between him and myself as well as his children, but always looking for more. Do you have a family tree program, if so I could send you a Gedcom file of what I have. Hope we can compare notes and help each other out.
