Good morning Jerry,
In the 1st paragraph of "Doane" vol. 1, bk 1, compiled and published by Alfred Alder Doane, I find the following information:
"A record was kept of those emigrants who on leaving England took the oath of loyalty to the English Crown and promised conformity to the Established Church (which I believe is the "Church of England").
